Mojacar is a beautiful corner of Spain, high on a hill with white houses, cool courtyards and cobbled streets overlooking the nearby sea and long sandy beaches. A focal point for artists and writers throughout the ages, Mojacar with its Moorish appearance and commanding views will fascinate, beguile and completely enthral. Whether it is sailing, fishing, bowling, tennis, golf or watersports that take your fancy or simply relaxing on an uncrowded beach soaking up the sun, you will find it all and more in and around Mojacar.

Mojacar is a picturesque old village dating back to Moorish times with a maze of cobbled streets and whitewashed houses. It is situated on a hill overlooking the beach road below where you can find a wonderful choice of beach bars and restaurants. Development has been kept to a minimum and unlike other areas of Spain there are no high buildings along this coast. The beach stretches for about 12 km with large deserted areas where you could have a whole beach to yourself. This part of Spain, the south east corner, boasts one of the most sunny areas in the whole country with an average of about 340 days of sunshine in the year. The nearest airport is Almeria, which is approximately an hours drive and the next nearest is AIicante which is about two and a half hours away. There are flights to both these Airports from the UK all year round, (Tarleton Travel - The holiday specialists for Almeria or the south of Spain). Malaga airport is approx three and a half hours drive away. Although not essential, car hire is recommended if you would like to explore the surrounding area and visit the nearby deserted beaches and the lovely mountains to the north of Mojacar. There are many, many places of interest to visit for some really interesting and enjoyable day trips. However, if all you want to do is relax and take to the beach then a car is not necessary.

Today Mojacar is a village which keeps faith with its architecture, the colour of its white dwellings, its protected spaces, its environment, its beaches, its coves and secluded corners. Mojacar remembers its past with the fantastic "Fiestas of Moors and Christians" which take place every year in June. It remains true to its magic symbol .... THE INDALO. Mojacar is now once again a crucible of cultures, with proportionately one of the most international mixtures of people in Spain, with a great variety and quantity of artists (painters, writers, photographers ...) who live practically all year and Mojacar is a source of constant inspiration, with its light, its panoramas, its surrounding and its picturesque personality.
